I finished up another trio of engines this weekend. One was a new paint scheme conversion, exactly like the last one I did a week ago, but with a yellow sill instead of the red sill. This unit fits with my other UP engines, so I figured it was a good upgrade even though I haven’t seen any photos online of the real one with the yellow sill update. Otherwise, it got a standard weathering application before being sealed.

The next one is a former Southern Pacific AC4400CW that has a GE “toaster” burn applied from a failed turbo. The burn mark is built up using acrylic and oil based paints. Once dry, I follow it up with various shades of weathering chalks until the desired effect is achieved. The nice thing about the oil paints is it is thicker and gives a nice layered texture to the hood area. The rest of the engine was weathered with my normal process.

The final engine is just a standard Union Pacific Dash 9 that has been weathered to the late 1990’s time frame when they were in much better condition than today’s units are normally found in.

I’m working on getting some more videos of trains running on the entire layout, plus some updates on individual scenes. Until next time, Cheers!!
