My home layout hosts Norfolk Southern operations from the late 2000’s up until today. The HO Scale layout is loosely based on the former Conrail Chicago mainline between Cleveland and Chicago. Upwards of 100 trains a day operate on this double main.
Occasionally, I’ll run trains from the late 1970’s as Conrail was beginning it’s journey of incorporating all of the bankrupt rail lines into the lean, profitable operation it became before being split between CSX and Norfolk Southern on June 1, 1999
