This past weekend, my son and I drove up to Novi, MI for the National Train Show. We went on Sunday due to some conflicts we had on Saturday and walked around for about 4.5 hours. This is the first NTS that I’ve attended and I don’t know what it’s been like in the past, but this one was definitely underwhelming. I’ve been to the Amherst Train Show before and this was about 1/8th the size of that. I did find some good buys, so that made up for it and I had a chance to talk with the ScaleTrains reps for about 20 minutes. It wasn’t all bad, but when you’re missing large manufacturers like Rapido, Athearn, Atlas, and a handful of smaller companies like Moloco, Tangent, etc, it just felt like another train show to be honest.
Anyway, my big purchase was from the East Coast Circuit guys. If you haven’t seen their products before, they are awesome. I spent today getting everything wired and thankfully, I didn’t blow anything up in the process… 😊 Below are two videos I took of the areas where I felt they would be worth the expense. The first area is a new construction scene on the I-75 highway bridge.
The second area that received new vehicles was the Old Country Store and Fire Station. The fire chief was out inspecting his vehicle and the mail truck is making it’s usual stop.
Finally, the following are some photos I took from all of the different layouts that were set-up at the show. There were a lot, which was a good thing to see. I know how difficult it is to get modules working correctly, so I’m grateful that those clubs and individuals that came out were there to show off their stuff. I didn’t take notes so these are just coming out of the randomizer…

Cheers!
